A brazen shooting in Delhi has led to the investigation focusing on jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba, who are suspected to be the masterminds behind the murder of 35-year-old Nadir Shah. Shah, the owner of a gym in Greater Kailash-1, was shot dead on Thursday night outside his establishment.
The police have gathered evidence indicating that the Bishnoi gang believed Shah was interfering with their extortion activities. CCTV footage from the crime scene captures the assailant firing eight to ten rounds at Shah, while his friend narrowly escapes. Though five individuals have been apprehended in connection with the murder, the three assailants remain at large.
An aide of Bishnoi associate Goldy Brar, Rohit Godara, claimed responsibility for the killing, highlighting a dispute over a ₹40 crore extortion deal. According to police sources, a Dubai-based businessman sought Shah’s help to renegotiate the deal, which was ultimately settled at ₹20 crore. However, the gang never received the agreed-upon sum.
Lawrence Bishnoi's US-based cousin, Anmol Bishnoi, contacted Hashim Baba through intermediaries to gather information about Shah. Their investigation revealed Shah had pocketed a commission from the businessman and received a Mercedes car as a gift, but he failed to facilitate the extortion payment. This led the gang to target Shah, believing he was responsible for the deal falling through.
Police are verifying information about the motives behind Shah’s killing through multiple channels. Four individuals, Akash Yadav, Naveen Baliyan, Nitalesh Tiwari, and Vishal Varma, have been arrested in connection with the murder. These individuals were responsible for reconnaissance, surveillance, procurement of weapons and the motorcycle used in the crime, and assisting the main shooter, Madhur, in his escape.
A fifth suspect, Sajid, was apprehended from northeast Delhi and is believed to have provided logistical support to the assailants. Police emphasize that all arrested individuals are foot soldiers operating under the direction of Bishnoi, Baba, and their overseas associates like Goldy Brar, Kapil Sangwan, and Rohit Godara. These foot soldiers act as facilitators, arranging logistics, while maintaining anonymity to protect the larger conspiracy.
