Congress Aims for Haryana Win with Freebies, Caste Survey
  • Congress confident of Haryana win
  • Manifesto promises free electricity, healthcare
  • Caste-based census a key pledge

The upcoming Haryana assembly elections have stirred political fervor, with the Congress party confident of securing victory. Congress leader Pawan Khera expressed optimism, emphasizing the discontent among the electorate, particularly farmers, wrestlers, and soldiers, who have faced challenges over the past decade. He highlighted the appeal of the Congress's guarantees, aiming to address these grievances and bring about change in the state.

The Congress released its election manifesto, outlining its key promises for the people of Haryana. The manifesto includes populist measures such as free electricity up to 300 units, free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakhs for every family, and monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,000 for women aged 18-60. The party also pledged to provide gas cylinders at Rs 500, further appealing to the electorate.

The Congress manifesto goes beyond immediate benefits, addressing long-standing demands for a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops, a farmer commission, and diesel subsidies for farmers. It also promises affordable housing, aiming to provide 200-yard plots and two-room houses for underprivileged sections of society. A key feature of the manifesto is the promise to conduct a caste-based survey in Haryana, a long-standing demand of the Congress.

Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda highlighted the party's commitment to the manifesto, stating that it was drafted after extensive research and consultations. He emphasized the experience gained from Rajasthan, where Ashok Gehlot's tenure as Chief Minister provided valuable insights for the manifesto's formulation. The Congress believes that these promises will resonate with the electorate and secure their support in the upcoming elections.
