Congress Accuses BRS of Destabilizing Hyderabad
  • BRS accused of trying to destabilize Hyderabad
  • Congress leaders condemn BRS for defections and provocations
  • Revanth Reddy is seen as crucial for government stability

The political scene in Hyderabad is heating up as the Congress party vehemently criticizes the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for allegedly attempting to disrupt the city's peace and tarnish its reputation. Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and T. Jagga Reddy, key figures in the Congress, have accused the BRS of stirring up controversy by raising the issue of Andhra settlers after enjoying power for a decade with their support. This move, they claim, is a desperate attempt by the BRS to distract from their electoral defeats in the Assembly and Parliament.

The Congress leaders are particularly incensed by the BRS's alleged tactics, citing instances of provocative behavior towards elected officials. They point to the party's instigation of a smear campaign against the Congress during the elections, claiming that law and order issues would arise if Congress came to power. Now, with the state experiencing a period of relative peace, the BRS is accused of deliberately creating disturbances. The Congress also condemned the BRS's alleged encouragement of defections from other political parties, a practice they claim the BRS is now hypocritically condemning. They see the BRS's actions as a desperate attempt to destabilize the Congress party, particularly targeting the rise of a Dalit MLA as Leader of the Opposition.

The Congress leadership has also defended their party's actions, especially the recent influx of MLAs from the BRS. They argue that the BRS, known for its own history of encouraging defections, has no grounds to criticize Congress for the same. The Congress leaders further emphasize the importance of Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister, in maintaining the government's stability amidst ongoing threats from both the BRS and BJP. They maintain that Congress MLAs have always conducted themselves with dignity, unlike the BRS MLAs, whom they accuse of seeking publicity through unethical means. They also remind the BRS that it was KCR, the BRS leader, who initially welcomed Andhra-origin MLAs into his party, highlighting the hypocrisy of the BRS's current concerns about their presence.
