The tragic discovery of the decomposed body of a civil services aspirant, Deepak Kumar Meena, hanging from a tree in a forest area in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, has sent shockwaves through the city and the nation. Meena, hailing from Dausa in Rajasthan, had been preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) mains exam after successfully clearing the preliminaries. His disappearance had sparked anxiety among his family and friends, who had last spoken to him on September 10th. The police, who recovered his body on September 20th, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Meena's father, C.L. Meena, informed the police that his son had arrived in Delhi in July to focus on his UPSC preparation. The family had maintained regular communication with him, with Meena calling home every evening. However, when he failed to call on September 11th, 12th, and 13th, his father became increasingly worried and traveled to Delhi to initiate a search for his son. Meena's roommates at his PG accommodation confirmed that he had not returned for two days, prompting his father to file a missing person's report at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.
Following extensive searches, Meena's body was found in a forested area near the coaching institute where he attended classes. His bag was located hanging from the same tree, suggesting that he had gone to the forest area after his studies. No suicide note was found at the scene, leaving the circumstances of his death shrouded in uncertainty. The police, however, suspect that Meena took his own life, citing CCTV footage analysis and the discovery of his bag at the site of his body. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the definitive cause of death and gather further information.
