CBI Grills Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Suspect
  • Sanjay Roy denies rape-murder
  • CBI conducted polygraph test
  • Roy claims innocence, framed

The case of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital continues to unfold with the recent polygraph test conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the primary suspect, Sanjay Roy. While Roy initially confessed to the crime after his arrest on August 10th, he has since retracted his confession, claiming innocence and asserting that he is being framed.

The CBI's polygraph test, conducted on August 25th at Kolkata's Presidency Central Jail, where Roy is currently detained, revealed inconsistencies in his account. While Roy maintained his innocence and claimed to have fled the seminar hall upon discovering the body, the polygraph results reportedly indicated deceptive and unconvincing responses to the questions posed by the CBI.

The polygraph test is not admissible as evidence in court, but it does provide valuable insight into the suspect's demeanor and credibility. The CBI's investigation has also revealed that Roy's bluetooth headset was found inside the seminar hall where the incident took place, further adding to the evidence against him.

The investigation, now in its final stages, has ruled out the possibility of a gang-rape and identified Roy as the sole suspect. The CBI has collected extensive evidence, including over 100 statements and 10 polygraph tests. They are currently awaiting DNA results from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi.

This case has sparked public outrage and raised concerns about the safety of healthcare professionals in India. The CBI's thorough investigation aims to ensure that justice is served and the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to account. The outcome of the case will be closely watched as the CBI prepares to file charges against Roy.
