CBI Finds Evidence of Renovation Order After Doctor's Murder
  • CBI found a document showing former principal Sandip Ghosh ordered renovations near the crime scene.
  • Ghosh ordered renovation work adjacent to the seminar hall where the victim's body was found.
  • The renovation order was given a day after the victim's body was discovered.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the horrific rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata. Their investigation has unearthed a crucial document revealing a potential link between the former principal, Sandip Ghosh, and the crime scene. This document, secured by the CBI, shows that Ghosh instructed the state Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct renovations in areas adjacent to the seminar room where the victim's body was discovered, just a day after the tragic incident. The victim's body was found on the morning of August 9th, but the permission letter for the renovation, bearing Ghosh's signature, was dated August 10th.

Initially, investigators believed the renovation order was given by an administrative official under Ghosh's directive. However, the discovery of the permission letter with Ghosh's signature has raised concerns about his involvement. The letter underscores Ghosh's eagerness to get the renovation work completed, as renovations were scheduled to begin on August 13th. This proximity to the date of the victim's discovery further intensifies suspicion surrounding the timing and motivation behind these renovations. The renovations, scheduled for a room and toilet adjacent to the seminar hall, the scene of the crime, have added a layer of complexity to the investigation.

The CBI believes this document holds significant weight in the investigation, potentially connecting the rape and murder case with a separate probe into financial irregularities at RG Kar. Sandip Ghosh is currently in CBI custody in relation to this financial irregularities case. The fact that he was so keen on initiating renovations near the crime scene, a day after the victim's body was discovered, could suggest a possible attempt to tamper with evidence or conceal something related to the case. The protesting medical fraternity, who have been vocal about the incident, believe it was not an isolated case of rape and murder but a deliberate act of silencing the victim as she was aware of the financial irregularities.
