BJP's J&K Manifesto Promises Peace, Jobs

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, outlining its vision for the Union Territory's future. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, launched the party's poll campaign and presented the manifesto, emphasizing the party's commitment to peace, progress, and development. The manifesto, comprising 25 promises, prioritizes various aspects, including tackling terrorism and separatism, enhancing women's financial security, creating employment opportunities, and promoting tourism.

One of the key promises highlighted in the manifesto is the eradication of terrorism and separatism from Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP, drawing upon its record during the past decade, asserts that its rule has ushered in an era of peace and security. The manifesto pledges to continue these efforts, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. Another significant focus area is women's empowerment. The BJP manifesto prioritizes enhancing women's financial security and self-reliance, recognizing their vital role in society. The party aims to create opportunities for women to participate in the economic development of the region.

The BJP manifesto also outlines plans for economic growth and job creation. The party has promised the creation of 5 lakh jobs in the valley, along with the development of a new tourist hub near Rajouri. The manifesto emphasizes the importance of tourism for Jammu and Kashmir's economy, promising to create tourist centers in Jammu as well. Furthermore, the manifesto addresses the welfare of displaced communities, particularly Kashmiri Pandits. The BJP has committed to launching the 'Tika Lal Taploo Visthapit Samaj Puranvas Yojana (TLTVPY)' to ensure the safe return and rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

The upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled for September and October, are significant as they mark the first since the Union Territory was formed in 2019. The three-phased election process will take place on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with votes being counted on October 8. The J&K Assembly comprises 90 seats, with over 87 lakh electors eligible to vote. The BJP, with its manifesto focusing on peace, development, and empowerment, hopes to secure a strong mandate in the elections.
