The political landscape in India is once again abuzz with controversy, this time ignited by comments made by Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Indian National Congress, during his recent visit to the United States. His remarks on the sensitive issue of reservation in India have triggered a fierce backlash from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), escalating into a full-blown political battle.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad went even further, claiming that opposition to reservations is a legacy of the Congress party, citing the stances of former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi on the matter. He challenged other members of the INDIA bloc, an opposition coalition, to publicly denounce Gandhi's remarks.
The BJP's aggressive stance on Gandhi's comments is strategically calculated. The party is seeking to leverage this controversy to its advantage in upcoming state elections, particularly in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
