  • Driver appeared drunk, blood test results awaited.
  • Opposition criticized cover-up attempts by BJP leader.

The recent incident involving an Audi driven by the son of Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule has sparked controversy and raised questions about potential cover-up attempts. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday in Nagpur, where the Audi, driven by Arjun Haware, collided with several vehicles, injuring two youth on a moped. According to police, Haware appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and his blood samples have been sent for forensic testing to confirm this.

The police have arrested Haware and released him on bail as it was a bailable offense. The Audi was carrying three individuals, including Sanket Bawankule, the son of the BJP leader, and Ronit Chittamwar. Police have recorded statements from both Sanket and Chittamwar in connection with the incident. According to police reports, the passengers in the Audi were returning from a beer bar in Dharampeth when the collision occurred.

Following the incident, the opposition has criticized Bawankule, alleging efforts to cover up the accident. Bawankule, however, has maintained that the police should conduct a thorough and impartial investigation without any bias. The incident has raised concerns about the potential for political influence in the investigation and the safety of citizens on the road. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the results of the blood test are awaited to determine the extent of Haware's intoxication and the precise circumstances that led to the incident.
