The upcoming Haryana Assembly elections have witnessed an unexpected turn of events with the entry of Asia's richest woman, Savitri Jindal, into the fray as an Independent candidate. This decision follows the BJP's denial of a ticket to her from the Hisar constituency, instead opting to field the sitting MLA and minister, Kamal Gupta. Jindal, the chairperson of the O P Jindal Group and mother of BJP Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal, had initially aspired for a BJP ticket to contest the polls from Hisar. However, the party's decision to renominate Gupta prompted her to take the path of an Independent candidate.
After filing her nomination, Jindal declared her commitment to serving Hisar for its development and transformation.
