The Andhra Pradesh government has appealed to the Union Government for financial assistance following devastating floods and heavy rainfall that have wreaked havoc across the state. The government submitted a preliminary report detailing the damages and losses incurred, estimating the total cost to be around ₹6,880 crore. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in a press briefing on September 7, 2024, urged the Centre to extend immediate support to help Andhra Pradesh overcome this crisis.

To assess the extent of the damage and formulate a comprehensive relief plan, the state government has initiated a loss enumeration process in the flood-affected areas. This process, scheduled to begin on September 9, 2024, will involve enumerators from outside the state who will visit shops, establishments, and houses to gather information about the losses suffered. Based on the collected data, the government plans to implement a comprehensive assistance program for the flood and rain victims, ensuring that they receive all necessary support to recover.

Furthermore, the government is actively engaging with insurance companies to expedite the settlement of insurance claims. Chief Minister Naidu has requested the companies to process and settle claims within a week of receiving them, demonstrating the state's commitment to providing swift financial relief to those affected. The government has also implemented measures to ensure the immediate provision of essential commodities to flood-affected areas. As of September 7, 2024, rations have been distributed to 66,454 individuals, and the government has assured continuous supply of these necessities. The government has also made provisions to deliver essential commodities directly to the doorstep of the affected individuals, based on public opinion, acknowledging the importance of accessibility and convenience during such a difficult time.
