Abdullah Slams Er Rashid's Bail as 'Tactical Move' for Votes
  • Omar Abdullah criticizes Er Rashid's bail.
  • He calls it a tactical move for votes.
  • Abdullah warns people of BJP's tactics.

Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, has launched a scathing critique of the recent bail granted to Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) leader Er Rashid by a Delhi court. Abdullah vehemently asserts that this decision is not in the best interests of the people of North Kashmir but rather a strategic maneuver to secure votes in the upcoming elections. Speaking to reporters in Budgam, Abdullah expressed his sympathy for the residents of Baramulla, the region most affected by Rashid's release, stating that the bail is not a gesture of public service but a calculated move to gain electoral advantage. He predicts that Er Rashid will likely return to Tihar Jail once the elections have concluded, effectively rendering his release a temporary measure for political gain.

Abdullah's comments are a direct response to the growing political tension surrounding the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He accuses the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of employing divisive tactics to manipulate public opinion and secure power. His statement that if people want a BJP government in J&K, they should support AIP, PC, and Apni Party, further reinforces this accusation. This aligns with his overarching concern that the AIP, despite its seemingly independent stance, operates as a proxy for the BJP, working to divide the electorate and pave the way for the BJP's victory.

Abdullah's remarks also address the recent criticisms leveled against him by former Congress chief Vikar Rasool. He maintains that the Congress leadership is fully aware of Rasool's comments and considers that sufficient response from the National Conference. Additionally, Abdullah dismisses the political actions involving jailed cleric Sarjan Barkati directed against him as attempts to undermine his credibility. These actions highlight the complex and often volatile political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, where personal attacks and political maneuvering are common tactics in the fight for power.
