The state of Uttarakhand in India is currently facing a severe natural disaster due to heavy rainfall. The relentless downpour has triggered widespread landslides and caused significant damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and power lines. This disaster has resulted in the loss of lives and left many stranded in affected areas.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken immediate action in response to the crisis. He personally visited the disaster-affected areas, including Jakhanyali in Tehri-Garhwal district, to assess the situation and provide support to the affected families. He extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster and assured them of the government's full support.

The Chief Minister also visited the State Disaster Operations Center to monitor the situation and instructed officials to remain on high alert. The coordinated efforts of multiple agencies, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Disaster Response Force (DDRF), Police, and District Administration, have been crucial in rescuing stranded passengers on the Kedarnath Yatra route. Hundreds of pilgrims were safely evacuated from the affected areas by air and by using alternative routes.

The heavy rains and landslides have caused significant disruption to the Kedarnath Yatra, a pilgrimage that attracts thousands of devotees each year. Due to the safety concerns, the Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily halted until the affected routes are cleared and deemed safe for travel. The Chief Minister, along with his team, has been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and facilitate rescue operations.

The government of Uttarakhand is committed to providing all necessary assistance to the affected people. The disaster has highlighted the importance of effective disaster management and the need to strengthen infrastructure to mitigate the impacts of natural calamities. The government is focusing on providing immediate relief to the affected population, including food, shelter, and medical aid. Restoration efforts will be undertaken to rebuild the damaged infrastructure and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
