The Supreme Court of India has strongly criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his public comments regarding the bail granted to BRS leader K Kavitha in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Reddy, in a public statement, questioned why Kavitha was granted bail after five months while other figures like AAP leader Manish Sisodia had been denied bail for longer periods. He further alleged a potential deal between the BRS and BJP, implying that Kavitha's bail was politically motivated.
The Supreme Court, in a hearing regarding a petition related to the 2015 cash-for-vote scam, expressed its disapproval of Reddy's remarks, stating that such statements could erode public confidence in the judiciary. The bench, headed by Justice B R Gavai, questioned the appropriateness of the Chief Minister's public pronouncements, emphasizing the potential for his words to create doubt and apprehension among citizens regarding the impartiality of the judicial process.
