Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a multifaceted visit to Maharashtra, laying the foundation stone for the ambitious Vadhvan Port project and inaugurating numerous initiatives aimed at boosting the fisheries sector. The Vadhvan Port, a ₹76,000 crore undertaking, is poised to become a world-class maritime gateway, facilitating enhanced trade and economic growth. Its strategic location near Dahanu in Palghar district makes it one of India's largest deep-water ports, offering direct connectivity to international shipping routes. The port's advanced infrastructure, including deep berths and modern cargo handling facilities, promises significant employment opportunities and stimulation of local businesses. Furthermore, the project emphasizes sustainable development practices and environmental standards.

In addition to the Vadhvan Port, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 218 fisheries projects, valued at ₹1,560 crores. These projects aim to strengthen the fisheries sector's infrastructure and productivity across the nation, generating over five lakh employment opportunities. The Prime Minister also launched the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support System, a ₹360 crore project that will equip 1 lakh fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and union territories with transponders. This system, developed by ISRO, is designed to enhance communication, safety, and rescue operations for fishermen.

PM Modi's visit culminated in a special address at the Global Fintech Fest 2024, organized by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council. This conference, featuring over 800 speakers including policymakers, regulators, senior bankers, and industry leaders, showcased the latest fintech innovations. The event also saw the launch of over 20 thought leadership reports and white papers, offering valuable insights and in-depth industry information. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the role of India's fintech sector in fostering global prosperity and highlighted the nation's potential to lead the way in financial innovation.
