Congress Protests Against Investigation of CM Siddaramaiah
  • Congress protests Governor's permission for investigation against CM Siddaramaiah
  • Party alleges political motivation behind the permission, calling it unconstitutional
  • Protests held across Karnataka, accusing BJP of misusing Governor's office

The Congress party in Karnataka launched widespread protests on Monday, vehemently denouncing the Governor's decision to permit an investigation into Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's alleged involvement in irregularities related to the Belagavi Municipal Authority (MUDA). The protests, staged in various locations across the state, saw Congress members rallying against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, and the Governor, accusing them of orchestrating a politically motivated witch hunt against their leader.

The crux of the Congress's argument lies in their assertion that the Governor's decision to grant permission for the investigation is unconstitutional and driven by a desire to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. They contend that the BJP, the ruling party at the national level, is exploiting the Governor's office to undermine the Congress government in Karnataka, leveraging the investigation as a tool to destabilize the state's political landscape.

The protests, characterized by impassioned speeches and chants against the BJP leaders, saw a significant turnout of Congress party members, including elected representatives, party workers, and youth wing activists. The protests were particularly noteworthy for the strong condemnation voiced by prominent Congress leaders like MLA Asif (Raju) Sait, MLC Channaraja Hattiholi, and Minister M.B. Patil, who accused the BJP of manipulating the Governor's authority for political gain.
