NEET-UG Counselling Begins August 14th
  • NEET-UG counselling starts August 14.
  • Registration opens in first week of August.
  • Over 1.10 lakh MBBS seats to be filled.

The highly anticipated counselling process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 is set to commence on August 14th, according to an official announcement by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on July 29th. The announcement marks a significant milestone for aspiring medical students across India, who eagerly await the opportunity to secure seats in prestigious medical colleges nationwide.

While the counselling process officially begins on August 14th, candidates are advised to stay informed regarding the registration schedule, which is expected to open during the first week of August. The National Medical Commission (NMC) Secretary, Dr. B. Srinivas, confirmed this timeline, urging candidates to regularly visit the MCC website for updates and announcements pertaining to the counselling process.

The counselling session is poised to fill approximately 1.10 lakh MBBS seats across around 710 medical colleges situated throughout India. In addition to MBBS seats, the counselling will also cover 21,000 BDS seats, alongside placements in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) programs, as well as nursing programs. This comprehensive scope ensures that a diverse range of medical and healthcare professions are catered to during the counselling process.

The MCC will oversee the counselling process for the 15% all-India Quota seats, along with 100% of the seats available in all AIIMS institutions, JIPMER Pondicherry, central universities, and deemed universities. This centralized approach guarantees a transparent and standardized allocation procedure for aspiring medical professionals across the country.

The final results for the NEET-UG 2024 exam were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on July 26th, following the Supreme Court's dismissal of several petitions challenging the exam's integrity. The announcement concludes a period of uncertainty for aspiring medical students and paves the way for the commencement of the counselling process, marking a crucial step toward realizing their aspirations.
