Kerala Team to Use Dredger in Truck Driver Search
  • Kerala Agriculture University team travels to Karnataka
  • Team seeks to use a floating dredger machine
  • Dredger to assist in truck driver search operation

A team of experts from Kerala Agriculture University embarked on a mission to Shirur in Karnataka on Monday, driven by the ongoing search operation for truck driver Arjun. The team's objective is to assess the feasibility of deploying a floating dredger machine at the location where Arjun's truck is submerged beneath the Gangavally river.

The existing dredger machine at Shirur is limited in its capabilities, as it can only operate from the ground. This constraint has hampered efforts to retrieve the submerged truck. However, the team from Kerala Agriculture University possesses a floating dredger machine, which has the potential to overcome this obstacle. This specialized machine can operate while floating on the river, allowing access to deeper areas.

Vivency A J, Assistant Director of Agriculture, who accompanied the team, highlighted the advantages of the floating dredger. He explained that the team will thoroughly evaluate factors such as the river's depth, undercurrents, and overall suitability for the machine's deployment. If deemed feasible, the dredger will be transported to Karnataka to assist in the search operation. This innovative approach could prove instrumental in recovering the truck and bringing closure to the ongoing search.
