CUET-UG 2024 Results: Over 22,000 Perfect Scores
  • CUET-UG 2024 results released
  • Over 22,000 students scored perfect
  • Business Studies topped with 8,024

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG 2024, marking the commencement of the undergraduate admissions process for the academic year. The results were released on Sunday, following delays attributed to allegations of irregularities in other competitive exams, including NEET-UG and UGC-NET. This year, the CUET-UG witnessed a remarkable achievement with over 22,000 students securing perfect scores across 45 subjects.

The subject that garnered the highest number of perfect scores was Business Studies, with a staggering 8,024 students achieving full marks. Political Science followed closely with 5,141 top scorers, while History, English, and Psychology recorded 2,520, 1,683, and 1,602 perfect scores, respectively. The General Test, despite having the highest participation with 7.09 lakh students, saw only one candidate securing a perfect score. Notably, every subject in the CUET-UG 2024 had at least one student who scored full marks.

The NTA's decision to withhold the exact number of hundredth percentile scores this year deviates from previous practices. In 2023, there were 22,836 hundredth percentile scores, slightly higher than the 21,159 recorded in 2022. This year's CUET-UG results were determined following a comprehensive process that involved releasing provisional answer keys on July 7, conducting a retest for over 1,000 candidates whose complaints were deemed valid, and allowing candidates to challenge the provisional answer keys from July 7 to July 9. A total of 9,512 challenges were received, 1,782 of which were unique, and these were reviewed by subject experts to finalize the answer keys.

The NTA emphasizes that candidates were also given the opportunity to express their concerns through emails and letters, which were reviewed by subject experts. The feedback received from these channels played a crucial role in formulating the final answer keys and ultimately compiling the CUET (UG)–2024 results. The merit list for admissions will be curated by the 283 participating universities based on the NTA's scorecard. Each institution will then conduct its own admission counseling sessions.

Other subjects with a significant number of full-mark scorers include Biology/Biological Studies/Biotechnology/Biochemistry (835), Economics/Business Economics (430), Chemistry (398), Geography/Geology (373), and Agriculture (180). Additionally, five students achieved perfect scores in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, and 17 in Legal Studies. Notably, one candidate each scored full marks in Telugu, French, Japanese, and Russian. The announcement of the CUET-UG results was initially scheduled for June 30 but was postponed as the NTA addressed allegations of exam paper leaks in NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET.

The CUET-UG, conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time this year, faced a last-minute cancellation in Delhi due to “logistical reasons” but was rescheduled and held later in the capital. The NTA had announced that the third edition of the CUET-UG would be completed in seven days, with no score normalization as all exams would be conducted in a single shift. Out of 63 subjects, 15 were tested using pen-and-paper mode, while 48 were computer-based. Over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the exam to secure admission in 283 central, state, deemed, and private universities across India. The inaugural CUET-UG in 2022 faced technical issues and required score normalization due to tests being conducted over multiple shifts. This year's streamlined process aimed to prevent such complications.
