  • Second attack in three days, nine killed in earlier incident.
  • Security forces concerned as attacks occur in previously terrorism-free areas.

A terrorist attack in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir has left one person dead and one terrorist neutralised. This is the second such attack in the region within three days, following a deadly bus shooting that killed nine people on Sunday.

The latest attack occurred on a house in the Saida village, close to the International Border. Security forces launched a joint operation to track down the attackers, resulting in the killing of one terrorist. The owner of the attacked house has been in touch with authorities via mobile phone.

The recent attacks have raised concerns among security forces and the government, as they have taken place in areas previously considered safe from terrorism. Intelligence reports had indicated that Jammu was a potential target for terrorist activity.

In the wake of the attacks, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who represents the Udhampur district in Parliament, has been in contact with local officials to monitor the situation. He has also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and urged security forces to apprehend the remaining attackers.

The bus attack on Sunday, which occurred as pilgrims were traveling to the Shiv Khori cave temple, has been linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza. Efforts are ongoing to locate the terrorists responsible for both attacks.
