Sri Lanka's hopes of reaching the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup have taken a significant blow following the washout of their match against Nepal.
The irony of the situation is that Sri Lanka will now be forced to rely on the weather gods to help them progress to the next round.
After the washout in Lauderhill, Sri Lanka's final game is against the Netherlands on June 17.
If they win that game, they will have three points, but they will still need a number of other results to go their way.
Firstly, the Bangladesh vs Netherlands match will need to be washed out, meaning both sides will get just one point.
Secondly, South Africa will need to defeat Nepal on Friday.
Thirdly, Nepal will need to beat Bangladesh on Sunday.
Finally, Sri Lanka will need to defeat the Netherlands on Sunday.
Even if all of these things happen, Sri Lanka will still need to finish above Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal on net run rate.
It is a tall order, but it is still possible for Sri Lanka to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup.
