Biography of Ravneet Singh Bittu
Ravneet Singh Bittu was born on 10th April, 1969 in Kotla Afghana village of the Payal Assembly segment in the Ludhiana district.
He is the grandson of slain Punjab chief minister Beant Singh. Bittu was elected as Lok Sabha MP from Anandpur Sahib in 2009 and then from Ludhiana in 2014 and 2019 on a Congress ticket.
He shifted to the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He contested from Ludhiana but lost to Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring by over 20,000 votes.
Bittu is a close aide of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. He is also a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
Political Career of Ravneet Singh Bittu
Ravneet Singh Bittu started his political career as a student leader. He was elected as the President of the Students' Union of Government College, Ludhiana.
He entered electoral politics in 2009 when he was elected as the Lok Sabha MP from Anandpur Sahib on a Congress ticket.
He was re-elected from the same constituency in 2014. In 2019, he shifted to the Ludhiana constituency and won the Lok Sabha elections for the third time.
Bittu has held various positions in the Congress party, including the General Secretary of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC).
