Rain Looms Over India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Clash
  • Rain threatens India vs Pakistan match on Sunday.
  • 51% chance of rain at match start time (8:30 PM IST).
  • Full 20-over match still possible despite rain forecast.

India and Pakistan are set to renew their rivalry in a highly anticipated T20 World Cup Group A match on Sunday at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York. India, led by Rohit Sharma, is coming into the match after a convincing 8-wicket victory over Ireland, while Pakistan, captained by Babar Azam, suffered a disappointing loss against the USA in a super-over finish in their previous game.

However, the match is under threat due to the grim weather forecast for New York on Sunday. Accuweather predicts a 51% chance of rain at 11 AM local time (8:30 PM IST), which is half an hour after the scheduled start of the match. If rain does interrupt the proceedings, extra time is likely to be allotted. However, it is unlikely that the players will wait until the afternoon for the match to start.

Despite the rain forecast, there is still a good chance that fans will witness a full 20-over match between the two arch-rivals. The pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has been in the news for its uneven and slow outfield, but India started their campaign on a high note with an 8-wicket win against Ireland on the same pitch.

In a worrying development for India, captain Rohit Sharma sustained a blow to his left thumb while batting in the net session. However, the skipper resumed practice after receiving medical assistance, and his participation in the match is not in doubt.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has acknowledged that the pitches used at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not been as consistent as expected and has stated that the groundsmen are working hard to find a solution and deliver the "best possible surfaces" for the remaining games.
