Pakistan registered their first victory in the T20 World Cup, defeating Canada by 33 runs in a Group A match on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 107, Pakistan rode on Mohammad Rizwan's unbeaten 53 and Babar Azam's 33 to cross the finish line in 17.3 overs.
Despite their victory, Pakistan's net run rate remains behind that of the United States, who they had hoped to surpass in this match.
Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, expressed relief at the win and attributed their slow chase to the challenging pitch conditions.
He also acknowledged the team's desire to improve their net run rate by finishing the match before the 14th over, but admitted that the pitch made it difficult.
Canada captain Saad Bin Zafar expressed disappointment with his team's performance, citing the difficult batting conditions as a factor in their below-par total.
With this win, Pakistan moves up to third place in Group A, behind India and the United States, who have both won two matches apiece.
Pakistan will now face South Africa in their next match on November 3, while Canada will take on Bangladesh on the same day.
