Meghalaya Gears Up for Lok Sabha Vote Counting on June 4

The Meghalaya election department is making preparations for the counting of votes on June 4th. The seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls concluded on June 1st.

On Saturday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) BDR Tiwari convened a meeting with representatives of all political parties to discuss the counting process.

In the meeting, a presentation was made on the counting of votes, which will take place on June 4th.

According to a press release issued by the CEO's office, the counting will commence at 8:00 AM.

A total of 369 tables will be used across seven districts under the 1-Shillong (ST) parliamentary constituency and 244 tables across five districts under the 2-Tura (ST) constituency.

The 15-Mawlai assembly segment, which has the largest number of electors, will be counted in nine rounds.

There will be eight counting centers for the 1-Shillong (ST) constituency and five counting centers for the 2-Tura (ST) constituency.

A total of 18 counting observers have been deployed by the Election Commission of India (12 for 1-Shillong and 6 for 2-Tura).

Meanwhile, the East Khasi Hills district administration has imposed Section 144 CrPC in and around the counting centers to maintain order and prevent untoward incidents.

The Shillong traffic police have also made arrangements to manage traffic flow in the area and minimize congestion.
