Amidst this heightened tension, Chief Minister N Biren Singh's advance security team was ambushed by suspected insurgents while en route to the violence-stricken Jiribam district. The ambush, which involved gunfire, resulted in injuries to two security personnel and an ongoing shootout near Kotlen village along National Highway-53.
