A woman in Maharashtra's Pimpri-Chinchwad suffered severe injuries after being hit by a speeding car driven by Vinay Vilas Naykere, the son of a police official. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Bhosari area, and CCTV footage captured the horrifying moment of impact.
The woman was crossing the road when Naykere's car struck her, sending her flying into the air and landing some distance away. She was rushed to a private hospital with significant injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Following a complaint from the woman's brother, the police arrested Naykere and charged him under sections 279 (rash or negligent driving), 337 (causing hurt by negligence), and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
This incident bears similarities to an earlier case in Pune city, where another woman was injured after being hit by a speeding car while walking on the roadside. The frequency of such accidents raises concerns about road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
