Lalu Prasad's Daughters Contest in Lok Sabha Elections, Exit Poll Predicts Close Race

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has fielded his two daughters in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Bihar. Misa Bharti, his eldest daughter, is contesting for the third time in Pataliputra against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ram Kripal Yadav, who is seeking his third consecutive win. Lalu Prasad's other daughter, Rohini Acharya, is the RJD candidate for the Saran seat, facing BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

The India Today Axis My India exit polls have predicted that one of the RJD daughters is likely to have an advantage in the Lok Sabha election race, while the other is trailing behind. Misa Bharti is in a close fight against Ramkripal Yadav, while Rohini Acharya is facing a tougher challenge against Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

The exit polls have also predicted a third consecutive term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the BJP-led NDA expected to win around 350 seats. In Bihar, the NDA is projected to perform strongly, with the BJP likely to win 13-15 seats and its ally Janata Dal (United) expected to secure 9-11 seats, according to the India Today Axis My India survey. Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats.

The RJD, along with its allies in the INDIA bloc, is expected to win around 20 out of the 40 seats in Bihar. The Congress, which is a part of the INDIA bloc, is contesting on nine seats and is predicted to win six to seven of them.

The elections in Bihar were held across all seven phases, making it a crucial battleground in shaping Indian politics. The state has the fourth highest number of Lok Sabha constituencies among all states and Union territories.

The NDA's projected victory in Bihar has been attributed to the work done by PM Modi. Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary said that no prime minister in 70 years has achieved as much as Modi in the past decade.

Despite the exit poll predictions, Bihar Congress chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh expressed confidence in his party's prospects. He predicted that the Congress would win six to seven of the nine seats it contested in Bihar.
