Haris Rauf Accused of Ball Tampering, Pakistan's Woes Continue
  • Pakistan's Haris Rauf accused of ball tampering in T20 World Cup opener.
  • Rusty Theron, former South Africa pacer, made the accusation on social media.
  • No official complaint from the USA team has been made yet.

Pakistan's cricket team has been embroiled in yet another controversy, with star pacer Haris Rauf being accused of ball tampering during their T20 World Cup 2024 opener against the United States.

Former South Africa pacer Rusty Theron, who is now a member of the USA senior national cricket team, took to social media to make the serious accusation against Rauf.

Theron claimed that Rauf was running his nails through the new ball in an attempt to get it to reverse swing and deceive the American batters.

Theron's accusation was accompanied by a video clip that appeared to show Rauf running his thumbnail over the ball at the top of his bowling mark.

The incident occurred during Pakistan's humiliating defeat to the USA, in which they were bowled out for just 159 and then lost in the Super Over.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam defended his bowlers after the match, suggesting that they should have been able to deliver better against the USA team.

However, Theron's accusation has cast a shadow over Pakistan's campaign and could lead to further scrutiny of their bowling tactics.

Ball tampering is a serious offense in cricket, and if Rauf is found guilty, he could face a lengthy suspension.

The incident has also raised questions about the integrity of the T20 World Cup, which is one of the most prestigious events in the cricket calendar.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has yet to comment on Theron's accusation, but it is likely to investigate the matter further.
