Gujarat, Rajasthan Election Results 2024: BJP Dominates, Congress Hopes to Break Drought
In the recently concluded Gujarat and Rajasthan Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious, continuing its dominance in both states. The Congress, which has been out of power in Rajasthan for the past 10 years, was hoping to break its dry spell, but fell short of its target.
In Gujarat, the BJP won 156 seats out of the total 182, while the Congress managed to win only 17 seats. This marks a significant increase in the BJP's tally compared to the 2017 elections, when it had won 99 seats. The Congress, on the other hand, suffered a setback as it lost 16 seats compared to its 2017 tally of 77.
In Rajasthan, the BJP won 163 seats out of the total 200, while the Congress won 37 seats. This is a slight increase in the BJP's tally compared to the 2018 elections, when it had won 156 seats. The Congress, on the other hand, suffered a setback as it lost 13 seats compared to its 2018 tally of 50.
The BJP's victory in both Gujarat and Rajasthan can be attributed to several factors, including the party's strong organizational network, its focus on development, and its ability to connect with voters at the grassroots level. The Congress, on the other hand, has been struggling to regain its lost ground in both states, and will need to introspect on its strategy if it wants to challenge the BJP's dominance in the future.
The elections in Gujarat and Rajasthan were closely watched as they were seen as a barometer of the BJP's popularity ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP's strong performance in both states has given the party a major boost, while the Congress's poor performance has raised questions about its ability to challenge the BJP at the national level.
