David Johnson, a former Indian cricketer, tragically passed away after falling from his balcony in Bengaluru. The incident occurred at his apartment on the fourth floor, leaving the cricketing community in shock and mourning. Johnson, 52, was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Johnson's demise comes after a period of health challenges. Reports suggest he had been battling health issues for the past year, resulting in multiple hospital visits. Just three days before the tragic accident, he was discharged from the hospital after a week-long stay. He is survived by his wife.

News of Johnson's passing spread quickly through the cricketing fraternity, with tributes pouring in from his former teammates and colleagues. Anil Kumble, a former India captain and Johnson's teammate, expressed his heartfelt condolences on social media, reflecting on the profound loss.

He played for Karnataka till the 2001/02 season, forming a formidable pace attack alongside the likes of Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, and Dodda Ganesh. Johnson's passion for cricket extended beyond his playing days. He came out of retirement in 2009 to participate in the Karnataka Premier League, representing the Belagavi Panthers. After a six-year hiatus, he returned to the KPL in 2015, playing five matches during the season.

To support him, a benefit match was organized, the proceeds of which were used to provide him with a house. Despite these efforts, Johnson continued to grapple with financial difficulties.

Johnson's love for cricket led him to pursue a coaching career. He conducted coaching camps in Bengaluru, sharing his knowledge and experience with aspiring cricketers. But unfortunately, various factors prevented him from continuing his coaching career.
