Cabinet Meeting Held, PMAY Assistance Approved

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened the first meeting of his newly formed Cabinet, following their swearing-in ceremony by President Droupadi Murmu. The newly appointed ministers gathered at the Prime Minister's residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, around 5 pm for the meeting, which took place before the distribution of portfolios to the ministers.

The initial visuals from the cabinet meeting, held at the Prime Minister's residence in Delhi, depicted the ministers seated at a round table, with the Prime Minister presiding over the discussion.

The meeting was attended by ministers who are expected to retain their prominent positions in the cabinet, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, S Jaishankar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Manohar Lal Khattar.

Other notable NDA leaders present at the cabinet meeting included Kiren Rijiju, Chirag Paswan, Giriraj Singh, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Hardeep Singh Puri.

In its inaugural meeting, the Union Cabinet approved government support for the construction of three crore homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

According to PTI, citing officials, 'It has been resolved in today's Cabinet meeting to provide assistance to three crore additional rural and urban households for the construction of houses to fulfill the housing needs arising from the increase in the number of eligible families.'

In the last ten years, a total of 4.21 crore homes have been constructed for eligible poor families under the housing schemes of PMAY. Basic amenities like household toilets, LPG connection, electricity connection, and functional household tap connection are provided to all the houses constructed under PMAY through synergy with other schemes of the central and state governments.

On Sunday, June 9, Narendra Modi took the oath of office as India's Prime Minister for a third consecutive term at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
