Australia Captain Mitchell Marsh Faces Potential Ban for 'Manipulating' T20 World Cup Game
Ahead of Australia's T20 World Cup game against Scotland, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh received an interesting suggestion from former Test captain Tim Paine. Paine believes that Australia should 'manipulate' their final group game against Scotland to ensure that England is knocked out of the tournament.
England currently finds themselves in a precarious position after a washed-out game and a heavy defeat against Australia, who have already qualified for the Super Eights. To progress to the Super Eights, England must win both their remaining games by significant margins and hope that Australia hands Scotland a huge defeat.
Paine clarified that he doesn't want Australia to lose the match but rather make it close enough for England to be eliminated. However, if Marsh does so, he may face an ICC ban for up to two of their three Super Eight fixtures, as per a report in ESPN Cricinfo.
