In a tragic incident, at least 11 individuals, including three innocent children, lost their lives in lightning strikes that occurred in West Bengal's Malda district during an abrupt storm accompanied by torrential rainfall. According to official reports, the victims were struck by lightning while they were engaged in various activities. Among the deceased, a couple named Nayan Roy and Priyanka were reportedly working in their jute field when disaster struck. The lightning strikes also claimed the lives of three individuals residing in the Sahapur area under the jurisdiction of the Old Malda police station.
