In a tragic incident, a woman grazing her flock of goats in Mysuru was brutally attacked and killed by a tiger on the outskirts of Bandipura's N Begur range.

The victim, identified as 48-year-old Chikki, was grazing her goats in the Moorband Hill area when the tiger pounced on her. Her companion rushed to the nearby village for help, alerting the forest department.

Forest officials launched a search operation and discovered Chikki's mutilated and dismembered body this morning. One of her legs was missing, leading officials to believe that the tiger had devoured it.

The attack is believed to have occurred on the fringe of the forest range, and the tiger dragged Chikki's body almost 200 meters inside the dense vegetation.

The incident highlights the dangers associated with human-wildlife conflict in areas where tigers and human settlements coexist. It serves as a reminder of the importance of taking precautions and maintaining a safe distance from wildlife.

Forest officials have urged people to avoid venturing into forested areas alone and to be cautious when grazing livestock near tiger habitats.

They have also advised villagers to report any sightings of tigers or suspicious activity to the forest department promptly to ensure the safety of both humans and wildlife.
