Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav made a bold claim on Thursday, asserting that something significant is on the horizon for Bihar post the announcement of Lok Sabha election results. Yadav suggested that the dynamic between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appeared strained.
Yadav, who lost his Deputy CM position following Kumar's unexpected return to the NDA in January this year, shared his observations while interacting with journalists in Patna. He pointed to Kumar's reduced campaign appearances since Yadav's prediction that the CM would make a major decision after the Lok Sabha polls.
Furthermore, Yadav alleged that the Governor has taken on a more prominent role, holding meetings with officials and issuing instructions. He also claimed that the BJP and JD(U) were focusing on their respective seats during the election, without any apparent coordination.
Yadav expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc's chances of a resounding victory in the Lok Sabha elections. He predicted that the alliance could secure over 300 seats, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi facing defeat at the hands of three formidable opponents: poverty, price rise, and unemployment.
It is worth noting that Nitish Kumar made a U-turn in January 2024, leaving the Opposition-led Mahagathbandhan to rejoin the BJP-led alliance and becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar for the ninth time. Despite their alliance's dissolution, Yadav has refrained from directly criticizing the JD(U) president.
In his election campaigns, Yadav has suggested that Nitish Kumar secretly desires the BJP's defeat and supports him despite their political differences. The NDA coalition partners in Bihar, the BJP and JD(U), are contesting on 17 and 16 seats respectively.
The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) includes the RJD, Congress, and Left parties. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA swept the state, winning 39 out of 40 seats, while the Congress managed to secure only one seat.
