Teenage Porsche Killer Intended to Cause Death
  • 17-year-old Porsche driver charged with culpable homicide
  • Section 304 applied, indicating knowledge of potential death
  • Father charged under Juvenile Justice Act for facilitating underage drinking

The tragic Porsche crash in Pune that killed two techies in their 20s has prompted the Pune Police to charge the 17-year-old driver with culpable homicide.

According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the teenager had the knowledge that his reckless driving could cause death, and therefore Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code has been applied in this case.

The police are confident that they can prove a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, regardless of the outcome of the blood alcohol test.

The teenager, the son of a prominent Pune builder, was allegedly drinking with his friends in two pubs before the crash.

The police are also investigating the role of the teenager's father, who has been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act for providing his son with a car and facilitating his underage drinking.

This is believed to be one of the first instances where a separate offense has been registered under the two sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The police are optimistic that they will have the teen remanded until their application to try him as an adult is decided.

The case highlights the dangers of underage drinking and reckless driving, and the importance of holding both the driver and those who facilitate underage drinking accountable.
