The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on May 20th due to the fifth phase of voting for the Lok Sabha Election 2024 in Mumbai.

This is the second holiday for the stock market this month, as it was also closed on May 1st for Maharashtra Day.

The Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra are being held in five phases, with the final phase scheduled for May 20th.

The other phases of the election were held on April 19th, April 26th, May 7th, and May 13th.

In addition to the stock market, banks in Maharashtra will also be closed on May 20th.

The Sensex and Nifty 50, which are key domestic stock market indicators, concluded Saturday's trading session with upward momentum.

This extends their recent three-day rally, which was buoyed by fresh foreign investments and favourable global signals.

Every sectoral index finished in positive territory, with small and mid-cap indices surpassing the benchmarks in performance.

On Saturday, the 30-share BSE Sensex concluded at 74,005.94, marking an increase of 88.91 points, or 0.12%.

The NSE Nifty 50 climbed to 22,502.00, showing a rise of 35.90 points, or 0.16%.
