Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) thrashed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 10 wickets in their 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The win propelled SRH to third place in the IPL 2024 points table with 14 points from 12 games, while LSG remained in sixth spot with 12 points from the same number of matches.
Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma starred for SRH, scoring 89 and 75 off 30 and 28 balls, respectively, as they chased down the target of 166 in a mere 9.4 overs.
LSG's decision to start with off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham backfired badly as both Head and Sharma, who are adept against spin, dismantled him and took the game away from LSG in the Power Play.
Earlier, Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran had propelled LSG to a competitive total of 165/4, with a 99-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Badoni smashed a 28-ball half-century, while Pooran contributed 48 off 26 deliveries, as LSG recovered from a shaky start to post a respectable score.
But Head and Sharma's blistering assault in the chase rendered LSG's efforts futile, as SRH cruised to a comprehensive victory and consolidated their position in the top half of the IPL 2024 standings.
