  • Declines due to time constraints and IPL involvement.

Ricky Ponting, the former Australian cricketer, has revealed that he was approached for the role of head coach of the Indian cricket team.

Ponting confirmed that he had conversations during the Indian Premier League (IPL) to gauge his interest in the position.

However, Ponting ultimately declined the offer due to time constraints and his desire to remain involved in the IPL.

Ponting stated that he would love to be a senior coach of a national team, but the demands of the India head coach role, which typically involves an 10-11 month commitment, did not align with his current lifestyle and priorities.

Ponting also noted that taking on the India head coach role would require him to give up his involvement with IPL teams, which he was not willing to do.

Ponting's decision to decline the offer means that the Indian cricket team will continue their search for a new head coach, with Rahul Dravid's tenure coming to an end.
