Rain Threatens to Disrupt IPL 2024 Final
  • KKR and SRH set to clash in IPL 2024 final.
  • Cyclone Remal may impact the weather during the match.
  • Chances of rain on match day are minimal, but a cloud cover is predicted.

The highly anticipated final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is set to take place on May 28, 2024.

However, the weather forecast for the match day has cast a shadow of uncertainty over the proceedings, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting the possibility of Cyclone Remal affecting the region.

According to the IMD, a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression and further develop into a severe cyclonic storm, which is expected to make landfall in Bangladesh and West Bengal on May 26.

While Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu are not expected to be directly impacted by the storm, the weather conditions in Kolkata, where the match is scheduled to be played, could be affected.

Accuweather's forecast for Kolkata on May 28 indicates a cloudy day with a 10% chance of rain, increasing to 12% in the evening.

The chances of thunderstorms are minimal, at just 1%. However, a cloud cover is predicted throughout the day.

The weather conditions could potentially impact the match, especially if the rain intensifies during the game. The wet outfield and slippery conditions could make it challenging for the players to perform at their best.

Both KKR and SRH have been in impressive form throughout the tournament, and the final promises to be a closely contested affair.

KKR topped the league stage and won their Qualifier 1 match, while SRH overcame Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in the playoffs to book their spot in the final.

The presence of star players like Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, and David Warner adds to the excitement surrounding the match.

However, the weather conditions will undoubtedly be a factor to watch out for, and if the rain does play a role, it could significantly impact the outcome of the match.
