This sentiment reflects a desire among many voters to see Gandhi focus on a single constituency rather than spreading his efforts across multiple seats.
Strategic Shift in Candidacy
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi contested from both Amethi and Wayanad, a seat in Kerala. However, for the 2024 elections, the Congress party announced a surprise move by fielding Gandhi from Rae Bareli and Kishori Lal Sharma from Amethi.
This shift was met with mixed reactions, with some expressing disappointment that Gandhi was not contesting from Amethi, which has been a Congress stronghold for decades.
Emotional Ties to Rae Bareli
In his first reaction after filing nomination papers for Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi expressed his emotional connection to the constituency.
He stated that his mother, Sonia Gandhi, had handed over the family's work to him with great trust and had given him the opportunity to serve it.
