Pune's prominent real estate developer Vishal Agarwal's 17-year-old son Vedant Agarwal has been in the news since May 19, when a Porsche car allegedly driven by him rammed into a bike, killing two people. The Agarwal family has been involved in real estate development in Pune for the last four decades under the name Bramha.
The Agarwal family's business history dates back to 40 years ago when Bramhadutt Agrawal founded BramhaCorp. The company, according to its website, is involved in residential, commercial, and hospitality businesses. BramhaCorp is known for developing luxury hotels such as Le Meridien Mahabaleshwar and Sheraton Grand in Pune.
The company has also constructed several mid-segment and luxury residential projects in Pune, along with commercial projects in areas like Budhwar Peth, Kalyani Nagar, Pune Camp area, and Bavdhan. "We currently have on our anvil over 2,000 residential apartments and 4 new hotels. Also on our not-so-distant horizon are mixed-use developments, integrated townships, upscale residences, and commercial spaces," reads the BramhaCorp website.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Agarwal family underwent a business separation. According to Pune real estate market consultants, Vishal Agarwal is no longer associated with BramhaCorp and now operates under the banner of Brahma Realty, with different suffixes.
After the May 19 accident, BramhaCorp issued a statement on May 22 clarifying that Vishal Agarwal is not the Managing Director/Director of BramhaCorp Limited and that he owns Brahma Realty and Infrastructure Private Limited, which has no affiliation with BramhaCorp.
Consultants in the Pune real estate market note that the Agarwal family has been primarily involved in residential real estate, both before and after the separation. "The family has largely delivered on their promises and does not have any significant delays or default in giving possession to homebuyers in Pune," said a senior executive at an international property consultancy firm in Pune.
Vishal Agarwal and his wife Shivani Agarwal are currently involved in the construction of Bramha Skycity Phase-3, a residential real estate project with a completion deadline of April 2026.
While the official website of Brahma Realty and Infrastructure is down, the company's Facebook page boasts about Vishal Agarwal receiving a corporate award for excellence in real estate from former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
On the other hand, the official website of BrahmaCorp highlights their award-winning F Residences in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, as the world's first Fashion Condos in collaboration with FashionTV, and their ranking among the top 15 Real Estate Developers in Western India by CRISIL (Standard & Poors Rating).
Vishal Agarwal, along with his wife Shivani Agarwal and his father Shivkumar Agarwal, are associated with at least three real estate companies, according to disclosures made by the family with the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA). These companies include Bramha Leisures Pvt Ltd, Brahma Multicon Pvt Ltd, and B and G developers.
