Prajwal Revanna to Appear Before SIT in Sex Abuse Case
  • Prajwal Revanna apologizes to parents, claims depression.
  • Accused of sex abuse, will appear before SIT on May 31.
  • Says political conspiracy led to isolation and foreign trip.

Prajwal Revanna, the JD(S) MP from Hassan, has released a video apologizing to his parents and claiming that he was depressed and isolated due to the ongoing political drama surrounding the sexual abuse case against him.

Revanna, who had left India on April 27, has also said that he will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31 to cooperate with the investigation.

In the video, Revanna claimed that the allegations against him were part of a political conspiracy and that he had left India on a pre-planned trip before the case was filed.

The allegations against Revanna came to light after a woman filed a complaint with the police, accusing him of sexual abuse.

Following the allegations, Revanna's grandfather and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda had asked him to return to India and face the law.

The Karnataka government has also formed an SIT to probe the allegations against Revanna.

Meanwhile, both the Congress and the BJP have attacked each other over the incident, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah blaming the Congress for not acting immediately.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also issued a show cause notice to Revanna and is processing the Karnataka government's request to cancel his diplomatic passport.

Revanna's decision to appear before the SIT is seen as a significant development in the case, and it remains to be seen how the investigation will proceed.
