West Indies made a strong statement ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, hammering an undermanned Australia in their final warm-up game in Trinidad.
Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell smashed blistering half-centuries, helping West Indies to a total of 257 for 4 from their 20 overs.
Pooran struck 75 from just 25 balls, while Powell thumped 52 from 25, as the pair smashed 12 sixes between them.
Sherfane Rutherford also contributed with an unbeaten 47 from just 18 balls.
Australia, who fielded a team with just nine players and coaches for sub fielders, were never in the hunt, despite a valiant 55 from Josh Inglis.
Gudakesh Motie picked up 2 for 31 to stifle Australia's chase, while Nathan Ellis impressed with 1 for 40 from his four overs.
The victory gives West Indies a major boost ahead of the World Cup, while Australia will need to regroup quickly before their opening match against New Zealand on Saturday.
Pooran and Powell have shown they are in excellent form, and they will be key players for West Indies in the tournament.
Australia, on the other hand, will be hoping that the return of Marcus Stoinis and David Warner will boost their batting lineup.
However, they will need to find a way to improve their bowling if they want to be competitive in the World Cup.
