Modi's Bengal Rally: Five Guarantees, Attacks on TMC
  • Modi guarantees no religion-based reservation, protection of SC/ST/OBC rights, Ram Navami Puja, Ayodhya Ram temple, and CAA implementation.
  • Modi slams TMC for suppressing religious freedom, promoting illegal immigration, and neglecting Bengal's development.
  • Modi aims to make East India, including Bengal, an economic growth engine with improved infrastructure and resource utilization.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Barrackpore, West Bengal, on May 12, making five key guarantees to the state.

Modi asserted that religious freedom would be protected, with no religion-based reservations and no restrictions on Ram Navami Puja or the Ayodhya Ram temple construction.

He also promised to safeguard the existing reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.

Modi strongly criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing it of suppressing religious freedom, promoting illegal immigration, and neglecting the development of Bengal.

He highlighted the state's rich history and potential for economic growth but criticized TMC's alleged involvement in corruption and lawlessness.

Modi emphasized the importance of East India, including West Bengal, in the country's development and promised to make the region an economic growth engine.

He spoke of plans to improve infrastructure, promote industrialization, and harness the region's natural resources.

Modi expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would perform better in Bengal in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections compared to 2019.

He urged the people of West Bengal to reject TMC and support the BJP's vision for the state's development.

Voting for eight Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal will be held on May 13 as part of the fourth phase of the national elections.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the TMC won 34 seats in the state, while the BJP had only 2 seats.

The outcome of the 2024 elections in Bengal will be closely watched as it could shape the political landscape of the state and the national level.
