Modi Slams Opposition, Vows Reservation Protection in Bihar
  • INDIA bloc accused of performing "mujra" for vote bank.
  • Modi vows to protect SC/ST/OBC reservations, prioritize Constitution.
  • PM alleges Opposition plans religion-based reservations, criticizes RJD's lantern symbol.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Opposition during an election rally in Bihar's Patliputra.

Modi accused the INDIA bloc of being willing to perform "mujra" (dance) before their vote bank, but asserted that he would not let them take away the reservation benefits accorded to the SC/ST/OBC communities by the Constitution of India.

He said that for him, the Constitution is supreme and he would not allow the Opposition to snatch away the rights of these communities.

Modi alleged that the Opposition, particularly the RJD-Congress alliance, wants to provide reservation to their vote bank on the basis of religion.

He emphasized that the Constitution bars governments from giving reservation in government jobs and educational institutions on the basis of religion, a principle enshrined by Babasaheb Ambedkar in the drafting of the Indian Constitution.

Modi also took a jibe at Lalu Yadav's RJD, whose election symbol is a lantern, saying that it represents an outdated era and has spread darkness over Bihar.

Modi's comments come amid ongoing Lok Sabha elections, with several poll pundits predicting a victory for his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The Prime Minister's remarks have sparked controversy, with some accusing him of communal politics, while others have defended his statements as necessary to protect the rights of marginalized communities.

The debate over reservation in India is a complex and contentious issue, with strong arguments on both sides.

As the election campaign intensifies, it is likely that the issue of reservation will continue to be a major talking point, with Modi's stance likely to be a key factor in shaping the outcome.
