Prime Minister Narendra Modi experienced a touching moment at a rally in Bengal today as he received two portraits of himself and his mother, late Heeraben Modi, as Mother's Day gifts.

The Prime Minister was deeply moved by the gesture, acknowledging the efforts of the two men who had created the portraits and requesting the Special Protection Group (SPG) commandos to collect them.

He expressed his gratitude and promised to write back to the men, adding that he wanted to thank them personally for their thoughtful gift.

PM Modi also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of worshipping mothers and India as 'Bharat Mata' throughout the year, rather than just on Mother's Day, which is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

His mother, Heeraben Modi, passed away on December 30, 2023, at the age of 99 in Ahmedabad.

The portraits, which showed Modi sitting on the floor with his hands on his mother's lap in one photo and sitting with her while she had her hands on his shoulder in the other, were a poignant reminder of the special bond they shared.

PM Modi's gracious acceptance of the gifts and his emphasis on the importance of mothers and India's mother figures resonated with the crowd, creating a heartwarming and memorable moment at the rally.
