The Lok Sabha elections 2024 are well underway, with campaigning for the fifth phase currently in full swing. This phase of the elections will see voters cast their ballots in 49 parliamentary constituencies across six states and two Union territories on Monday.
Among the high-profile candidates in the fray are Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani, as well as Rahul Gandhi. Singh and Irani are contesting from their current seats of Lucknow and Amethi, respectively, while Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli.
The Congress leader is also contesting from Kerala's Wayanad, from where he is the sitting MP. All 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala voted in the second phase on April 26.
The states that will poll in the fifth phase are Bihar (5/40 constituencies), Jharkhand (3/14), Maharashtra (13/48), Odisha (5/21), Uttar Pradesh (14/80), and West Bengal (7/42), while the Union territories are Jammu and Kashmir (1/5) and Ladakh (1/1).
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being held in seven phases, with the first phase taking place on April 19. The second phase was held on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase will be held on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh and final phase on June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
