Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal repeated his claim that Amit Shah would become the prime minister after Narendra Modi becomes 75 in 2025, stating that the prime minister never explicitly denied retiring at that age.
Kejriwal made these remarks during a joint press conference with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. He emphasized that when he raised the issue of PM Modi's age and retirement in New Delhi, Amit Shah and several other leaders opposed it, but PM Modi himself remained silent on the matter.
Kejriwal expressed confidence that Modi would not break his party's rule of retirement at 75, stating, 'The entire country has trust that Modi will not break his rule of retirement age at 75.' He also alleged that the BJP had sidelined potential challengers to Amit Shah's leadership, such as Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Yogi Adityanath, with the latter's removal expected within 2-3 months.
Kejriwal further claimed that the BJP's 'big plan' if they win the election is to end reservation. This allegation was made in his first rally after being released from Tihar Jail.
In response to Kejriwal's claims, Amit Shah stated that Narendra Modi would complete his term and lead the party even after 2029. He accused Kejriwal of creating confusion and denied any leadership issues within the party.
Shah asserted, 'I want to tell Arvind Kejriwal and company that you have nothing to be happy about Modiji turning 75. It's not written in the BJP's constitution anywhere that he can't be the prime minister. He will be the prime minister and complete his term. There is no confusion in the party.'
